Regulation of single-phase full-wave center-tap rectifier

The variation of dc output voltage output as a function of dc load current is called regulation. Percentage regulation is given as

% regulation = VNL – VFL /VFL *100

For an ideal power supply output voltage should be independent of load current and the percentage regulation should be equal to zero.

The dc output voltage is given as, from equation

Vdc = 2 Imax RL/π = 2VS max RL/{π(RF + RL)}

= 2VS max[1 – RF/RF + RL]/π = 2VS max – Idc RF
